Brown Girl Friendly Foundations

Hey guys!

Today’s post is about foundations that complement brown skin tones. Although, other skin tones are not excluded because the brands mentioned in this post will have extensive shade ranges to match various skin tones! So, let’s begin…

Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation

This is by far one of my favorite foundations. It’s full coverage and has the perfect formulation, which leaves sort of a semi-matte finish, but very natural. I would say this is best suited for those with normal to combination skin. The only downside is that it does oxidize heavily, in my opinion. Originally, I had bought the shade 7.75, which matched me perfectly. However, 20 minutes later it would oxidize to a very orange shade. Then I bought the shade 6.0, which when oxidized, matched me better. Overall, I like this foundation, you just have to go down a shade or two.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

This is also one of my favorite foundations. It’s definitely full coverage but, in my opinion, isn’t fully matte. I actually prefer this because it won’t stick to any dry patches or blemishes. This is also great for lighter and darker skin tones because the shade range is almost 50 shades. I think this foundation is great for all skin types and a little goes a long way. I’m in the shade 310, which matches me perfectly.

Tarte SEA Water Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15

This foundation is medium to full coverage, but it is water-based, so if you have oily skin you may not like this. I have combination skin and did like it, but probably not in the Summer. Although, it is great in the Winter, especially for those with dry skin. My shade is 32G, which is medium golden.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation SPF 15

This foundation is full coverage and matte. It’s best for oily and combination skin types. The formula is oil-free, so if that’s something you’re looking for, this might be a good option. I really like Tarte because their products cater to different undertones as well as skin tones. In this foundation, I’m in the shade 37S Medium-Tan Sand.

Milk Makeup Flex Foundation Stick

I’m currently using this foundation stick and I have to say, I really like it! It’s medium to full coverage and blends out so well. I would say it’s definitely for all skin types. I’ve figured out from personal experience that if you have oily or combination skin a stick foundation might be better. When you wear liquid foundations, especially in the Summer and you start to sweat, it becomes cakey and oily very fast. Since I’ve been using this stick foundation, that hasn’t happened to me. I’m in the shade Golden Honey, which works well when I don’t layer anything over it, such as finishing powder.

Maybelline New York Super Stay Foundation

Although I’ve never tried this foundation, it is recommended due to its 28 shade range and budget-friendly pricing. It’s full coverage, oil free, and is supposed to provide high-impact yet breathable coverage.

L’Oréal True Match Super Blendable Foundation Makeup

This foundation is said to be easy to blend and comes in 45 shades, making it suitable for every skin tone. It’s low pricing also makes it affordable for every day use. This formula provides medium coverage with a natural finish.

These are just a few foundations that match brown skin tones – and all skin tones – very well. Trial-and-error is the name of the game when it comes to truly finding the perfect foundation. It’s a combination of matching your skin tone and your skin type. But, don’t forget about your undertone! And if you’re not sure what your undertone is, definitely ask a sales associate when visiting your next drugstore, Ulta, Sephora, etc.
